To improve the effectiveness and efficiency of SKIP member institutions in serving their constituency, SKIP has prioritized some critical areas for capacity- building for its member institutions such as:
Employment Generation and Entrepreneurship Development
To equip the young boys and girls in entrepreneurial skills, the instructors / trainers are first trained in entrepreneurial skills. They will be able to transfer the Entrepreneurship skills to the trainees only when they fully understand the concept of comprehensive enterprise development. This will enable SKIP to generate employment in the subsistence sector by training the youth adequately for productive work, by imparting them marketable skills and the flexibility to learn new things and to innovate, and by inculcating in them a proper work ethic.
Teaching Technology and Preparation of Teaching Aids
Conventional methods of teaching are slowly losing out and the newer methods are increasingly finding their way into todays educational systems. This situation in regular academic education calls for even more improvement when it comes to vocational education. The teaching technology should be relevant to the industry-ready trainees. Creative and innovative technologies which are relevant to the industry workers should be made use of.
Management of Vocational Schools
Generally administrations, be it small or big should be constituted on sound management principles. Management of a vocational school professionally and enabling it to constantly reinvent itself to suit the requirements of the stakeholders are areas of concerns for SKIP
Financial Management and Reporting
Building capacities in the institutes for planning, budgeting, effective utilization and reporting of funds is another area of significance.
Project Planning & Fund Raising
This enables the Heads / Administrators of SKIP member Institutions to plan innovative projects suitable to the needs of the organisation and the community whom they serve. The institute should also be capacitated to raise its own funds for its sustainability and growth. This will promote lot of activities in and around the otherwise passive institution.
Industry / Institute Interface with reference to Apprenticeship & Placement
In today’s scenario, given the dwindling status of employment opportunities, the institutions cannot any more function in isolation. It has to establish and develop linkages with industries for placement, training etc. and explore new avenues for partnerships.
The participants will be Heads of the Institutions / Principals or senior staff members from SKIP member institutions.
